Assault on campus sends two students to hospital

Two female SVSU students were hospitalized
early Sunday, Sept. 19, after they were
assaulted near the Art Studio building.

According to an SVSU Rave alert sent out
at 6:42 a.m. Sunday, the students were on
their way to their on-campus apartments
when they were assaulted at about 4:11 a.m.
by multiple suspects in a white or silver Saturn

J.J. Boehm, the director of media and community
relations, said the students were hospitalized
as a result of their injuries. Police on
Sunday declined comment, stating that any
information pertaining to the assault must
come from University Communications.

According to the Rave alert, the suspects
include one black female driver and two or
three black males. The suspects followed the
two students before stopping their vehicle,
getting out and then assaulting the students.

The suspects punched and kicked the two
students, Boehm said.

Students who have any information about
the assault or who see the Saturn Vue are directed
to call 911 immediately.

The students were released from the hospital
by noon on Sunday, Boehm said.
