‘Late Night Breakfast’ to offer fuel for finals

On Sunday, April 29, from 9 p.m. until midnight, the Marketplace at Doan will host the annual Late Night Breakfast event prior to the beginning of finals week.

Not only will there be a wide variety of breakfast food at the revamped event, but there will also be entertainment and appearances by Coop and celebrity servers.

This year, Dining Services formed a student committee in order to see what students really wanted at Late Night Breakfast. Dining Services reached out to a select group of students for advice on both food and entertainment. It was nearly unanimous to expand upon the menu and also involve Monster Energy. Monster will provide gift bags and have free product giveaways throughout the course of the event.

“Why not do a better breakfast for people?” said Sarah Griffore, the marketing coordinator for Dining Services. “It’s the last night before finals, so we want to celebrate by putting on this event for the students to enjoy.”

The expanded menu will consist of eggs, potatoes, sausage and biscuits and gravy at the comfort food and grill stations. Other stations will offer coffee, fruit, breakfast burritos, waffles with toppings, cereal treats, parfaits and smoothies. Mongolian grill will serve pancakes and French toast, and the deli station will serve ice cream cookie sandwiches.

This year’s entertainment will consist of Cardinal Radio, a photo booth, massages, board games, outside games and Monster Energy gift bags and giveaways. Cardinal Radio members will be the designated DJs for the night, and masseuses are coming in to help reduce student stress prior to exam week. There will also be games outside the south entrance doors to the Marketplace that are usually locked, but weather permitting, will be opened for games like corn hole and ladder toss.

“We want to give students the option to do a wide variety of activities or simply relax,” Griffore said. “Seeing students enjoy themselves is what makes it enjoyable to me and the rest of the staff involved with planning Late Night Breakfast.”
