After  a pair of successful seasons, the Saginaw Valley men’s and women’s track and field teams each had several representatives sporting the Cardinal colors in the NCAA indoor track and field national championships in Birmingham, Alabama.

For the women’s team, Taylor Stepanski, Brittany Johnson, Kimberly Balls, Alicia Tomlin, Chantelle Fondren and Anna Fochesato each participated in a series of events.

Stepanski competed in the 800-meter run prelim, finishing 7th with a time of 2:10:89. Fochesato finished 13th in the high jump by recording a 1.73 meter jump. Johnson raced in the one-mile prelims and finished 7th with a 4:53:40 finish.

As a group, all five competed together in the distance medley, finishing third overall with a 11:36:99 final.

Andrew Mudd was the lone representative for the SVSU men’s track and field team. Mudd competed in the heptathlon, finishing with 5151 total points.

The season is far from over for the team, with another meet in the near future. SVSU will travel to Grand Valley for a SVSU-GVSU dual meet on Saturday, March 28.
