The Saginaw Valley State University men’s golf team finished the weekend with consistency to earn sixth place in the SVSU Spring Invitational, hosted by SVSU at Boone Links Golf Course in Florence, Kentucky.

The team shot a combined score of 618 over the two days, with the single day scores of 309 on Saturday and Sunday. Lewis University claimed victory at the tournament with the team score of 602. The Cardinals tied for sixth with Ashland University, and were four strokes behind Lake Superior State University for fourth place.

In the individual scores, senior Micah Skidmore led the Cardinal squad by shooting team low-round scores of 75 in each. Skidmore’s combined score of 150, six over par, was good for a seventh place tie.

Junior Mitch Sikorski reciprocated his first day performance by shooting a 77 on both days. The combined score of 154 (+10) earned Sikorski for 18th place tie. Senior Carter Marsh followed his teammate by a stroke each day, finishing tied for 22nd overall with a score of 156 (78-78, +12). Sophomore Ryan Peruski followed Carter by a stroke each day as well, tying for 33rd overall with a score of 158 (79-79, +14).

The team will return to action next weekend, March 29 and 30, in Columbus, Indiana, for the Wisconsin Parkside Invitational. The invitational will be the last for the Cardinal’s before continuing on with NCAA regional tournament play.
