Possession of Marijuana
At 3:44 p.m. Friday, April 1, University Police were called to Living Center South to meet with Residential Life staff regarding an April Fool’s Day prank when they detected the smell of marijuana. They located the dorm where the scent was coming from; an 18-year-old male student admitted to having it and produced a small bag of the drug. The situation is being turned over to Student Conduct Programs for resolution.
Threats
At 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, an 18-year-old female student reported that over the course of a few months, she and her roommate in Living Center Southwest haven’t been getting along. A threat was allegedly made on Saturday, April 2. Residential Life staff encouraged the female student to file a report with University Police. Both students will be moving rooms in the near future.
Destruction of Property
At 11:50 p.m. Friday, April 1, an employee reported that a window in the door of the Student Life Center had sustained damage. It appeared that someone shot a BB gun at the window and caused the hole.
Fraud
At noon Friday, April 1, a 22-year-old female student reported that her credit card had been cloned and used on Saturday, March 19 at J.C. Penney in Grandville, Michigan. She still had possession of her credit card and had never traveled to Grandville. This situation is still under investigation.
Domestic Violence
At 2:31 a.m. Saturday, April 2, an 18-year-old female student called University Police regarding her roommate. Her roommate and her roommate’s boyfriend were having a verbal argument. When officers asked the victim what happened, she admitted that he had pushed her into a ladder. Her boyfriend, an 18-year-old male non-student, took her phone and left the apartment. Police found the male non-student outside with her phone. He claimed he took it to see if she was cheating on him. He was arrested for domestic violence and larceny of the phone.
Simple Assault
At 8:29 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, University Police were called to Living Center North to meet with Residential Life staff regarding a call they received from a resident. The resident stated that he and his roommate got into a verbal and physical argument. Both admitted to fighting, but neither wanted to press charges. The situation is being turned over to Student Conduct Programs for resolution.
