Bryan Crainer resigned from his position as the director of Student Life on June 29.

Jason Schoenmeyer, who served as the associate director of Student Life last year, is serving as the interim director of Student Life.

J.J. Boehm, the director of media and community relations, said SVSU officials are “assessing how best to meet students’ needs through the Office of Student Life” before proceeding with a search process for finding Crainer’s permanent replacement.

Boehm said he did not talk with Crainer regarding his decision to resign.

“We appreciate (Crainer’s) dedicated service to the university over the past decade, and we wish him well as he pursues new opportunities,” Boehm said.

Crainer, an SVSU alumnus, declined comment.

John Duly, a fifth-year nursing major and the Student Life marketing and graphic design coordinator, worked with Crainer before his resignation as a student worker in Student Life.

“Bryan Crainer embodied what it meant to have Red Pride,” Duly said. “He truly cared about the students here at SVSU and will be greatly missed at this university.”
