The Matchup

Northwood University- 13-1-1 overall (11-1-1 in GLIAC), currently ranked 17th in the country. Northwood lost to SVSU in the first GLIAC match of the season, along with tying Tiffin last Sunday.
Saginaw Valley- 14-2-0 overall (12-1 in GLIAC), currently ranked 11th in the country. Saginaw Valley’s one conference loss came to Lake Erie College.

Date: Friday, Oct. 30
Time: 2:30 p.m.
Location: Robert C. Braddock Field (SVSU)

What’s at Stake?

Whichever team wins this match will push the other team’s conference loss total to two games, making this a GLIAC regular season title match.

Key Matchup-Jordan Kalk and Tyler Channell (SVSU) vs. Johannes Sterobo (Northwood)

Two of the top three goal scorers in the country will be wearing the SVSU red on Friday. Forward Jordan Kalk currently leads the country with 20 goals, while forward Tyler Channell isn’t far behind with 18. Channell also leads the country with eight game winning goals. These two, along with the rest of the SVSU’s offensive attack will go up against, statistically, the GLIAC’s best goalkeeper, Northwood’s Johannes Sterobo. He currently leads the GLIAC in both Save Percentage and Goals Against Average. Northwood is also allowing the seventh fewest goals in the country this season. In this matchup of dominant offense and dominant defense, something will have to give.

Coaches Quote:

“We need to be mentally prepared more than anything. It will be a physical battle as always and playing with maximum intensity is crucial. It should be a physical and mental battle.” –SVSU head coach Andy Wagstaff
