Krevda leaves Residential Life to find new grounds

One of SVSU’s own is brewing up some new dreams.

Associate Director of Residential Life Matthew Krevda will depart on Friday, Sept. 13 to own his own coffee shop.

Krevda also was an adviser to the Residence Housing Association (RHA).

Current President of RHA, Daniel Hill, said Krevda’s presence made a difference.

“He has always been a fountain of information,” he said. “He has definitely shaped it into a friendly environment for everyone to come to.”

Michele Gunkelman, director of Residential Life, said the job opening has been posted and a search committee assembled to find a suitable candidate.

“We’ll have somebody as soon as we find the right candidate,” she said. “It’s hard to put a timeline (on it).”

Gunkelman said students should not be affected by the vacancy.

“Everybody in our department will help out as they need to, and hopefully we’ll find somebody quickly and get somebody transitioned,” she said.

Hill expressed hope for Krevda’s success.

“On behalf of the e-board (of RHA), we wish him luck following his dreams with the coffee shop,” he said. “We wish him well.”
